About Delta Nine Solutions
Delta Nine Solutions was started by Kate Welch, Pharm.D, IACP, AHG in response to increasing demands from patients and prescribers for accurate, useful, and evidence-based information about drugs and herbs. Dr. Welch received her Pharm.D from Oregon State University/OHSU and completed her professional rotations at Providence Seaside Hospital and the VA Hospital in Portland as well as at several independent community retail pharmacies, and has trained and worked at some of the leading compounding pharmacies in the Portland Metro Area. Dr. Welch chose to specialize in compounding pharmacy for both humans and animals and subsequently opened her own independent community retail and compounding pharmacy on the North Oregon coast. She is a member of the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists.
Herbal medicine has long been a passion for Dr. Welch; she learned traditional north European healing arts from her mother and grandmother, and later pursued formal study in botany and botanical medicine at Oregon State and through the Breitenbush Herbal Conference and International Herb Symposium. Dr. Welch is a member of the American Herbalists Guild and also completed an internship at the American Botanical Council, the independent, nonprofit research and education organization dedicated to providing accurate and reliable information on herbs for consumers, healthcare practitioners, researchers, educators, industry and the media.
Dr. Welch returned to Portland from the coast after selling her pharmacy with the hopes of starting a practice that would advance the use of safe herbal remedies for both acute and chronic conditions within the context of modern professional pharmacy. She aims to bring the best of both worlds together for the benefit of all.
